Movie Monday- " Boys Don't Cry"

Identity and Self-Expression

The movie “Boys Don’t Cry” starring Hillary Swank is based on the real life story of Teena Brandon, who chooses to live her life as a man, Brandon Teena.  Brandon demonstrates courage as she pushes the limits and marches forward to search for freedom and self identify in a world where diversity is rarely accepted. She has paid a significant price for going against social constraints and expressing her identify. Brandon was raped and murdered by two male acquaintances that were unable to accept differences in others.

Self Reflection

1. Social constraints lead people to feel or behave in a certain manner because of the way others will perceive their actions. Have you ever felt constrained by society? If so how did this affect you?
2. Are all social constraints negative
